“sorry; I am out of pity.”

I'm sorry for neglecting my blog. I had been kidnapped by aliens and now that I'm back.......well

Until recently; I had not been a fan of talent shows. American Idol season 11 just started and I have two more months of nothing but sheer boredom ahead of me thus resulting in me becoming an avid follower. As my friend Val said in her blog; some of these contestants are just Talentless freaks of Nature! However; this is not what bothers me

What disturbs me on American Idol are the pity stories. I honestly thought the show was about showcasing SINGING TALENT. Apparently; I was wrong. Before the person sings; they will show a “sad” video about the contestant’s life. There was a girl last week who lives in the woods. I am personally almost out of pity and I did not see what was so sad about that. The little pity I have left is for natural disaster victims; like people in Japan. They deserve it.

Steve and Randy NEVER say NO! to any hot girl who canT sing

As for the girl from a few weeks ago, It’s not like she is sleeping in a tree and wearing skin like Tarzan. She lives in a tent with her boyfriend. They have gas for cooking, firewood for warmth and a dog for companionship. In my eye’s they have it good.  Another 17 year old boy auditioned and told his story. His mother left them for a new man and his Dad is in the hospital; nothing too serious though. I bet it was heartbreak. They should wake up and smell the coffee; we all have problems. THAT’S LIFE FOR YOU. DEAL WITH IT because we all have problems

The judge’s are stuck in an awkward situation and after such a “heart breaking” story; they are left with no option but to say yes. Fortunately, the girl can sing and thus I feel she really deserved the golden ticket. The young man however, was as good at singing as I am. Awful!  However; he did get that golden ticket and he is going to Hollywood. I did not appreciate the “sad” stories they told before they sang. They influenced the judge’s decision with her pity eyes and sad stories. These people with “sad” stories don’t even try to sound good. They just hope and pray their story is sad enough to let them proceed to Hollywood. Thank God for round two; the group auditions. That’s where the riff ruff and pity story people will be eliminated and we can start focusing on the talent.

I was under the impression that Day time talk shows were created for these pity stories. If they really want people to feel sorry for them_ then please make an appointment with Ellen DeGeneres. American Idol is really not the place. I have been labeled cynical on a number of occasions and by different people; friends, family and also strangers. At this point; you can also do likewise.

I must commend my Fav show_ THE VOICE. Now that is classy. Instead of looking for talent from the rough; they begin with the talented people. Saves my hears from the horror. It's like listening to a mule in labour when watching some whack people on Idol. On the Voice the bonus is; these are blind auditions.

As you can see; the judges can ONLY HEAR and NOT SEE the contestants

During the blind auditions, the decisions from the judges are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don't get to see the artist - thanks to rotating chairs. If a judge is impressed by the artist's voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel so that he/she can face the artist he/she has selected.

And back to American Idol; I hope tomorrow I can watch people with real talent, not story tellers because “sorry; I am out of pity.”
