So I have been away for
quite some time now; my apologies. The 4week break was too short and I just
couldn’t make any time for blogging. All other plans I had made succumbed to
the main plan – sleeping like a log and hence were not undertaken. Quick
update; this blog will also be functioning as my Computer Class WIP URL for the
next four months so please; feel free to comment on my academic issues too.
Today’s piece is not
meant to disrespect Malaysians or their way of life. It is just a sentiment and
if offended please; just exit the browser and save yourself the hurt.
I have lived in this country for 3years now and I will try hard not to type my
true sentiments about the place. As much as I will try not to diss this place
or disrespect the people; some things just have to be said.
I am thoroughly fed
up with the customer care in this hell hole.
Yes; I said it. Coming to this
place is like buying a work of art and only when you get home you try hanging
it on the wall you realized it’s a fake. Word of advice: This place is meant
strictly for vacationing and not to live in. It’s a miracle that I have managed
to maintain my sanity in the midst of this chaos.
As a country that is
fast developing and adopting western habits you would expect people to at least
learn ONE international language and not necessarily English. Besides the
language barrier; the problem is NOBODY LISTENS in this country. Try talking to
customer service or sales people and you will understand what I mean. Their
only concern is selling the product to you under any circumstances.

| just window shopping at the Mall |
Its a busy day in a
leading shopping mall but one particular lot captures my attention due to the
lack of activity in there and also the interior is just what I need. There is a
song playing in the background; catchy although I cannot understand what the
singer is saying. I walk in and head to the row of blouses and ladies tops;
there I am just looking around and trying to see if there is anything that will
catch my eye
Sales assistant walks
up to me
“Can I help you?”
“Em; no thanx. I will
just look around first”, I politely reply with my warmest smile
“Miss, this is free
size. You can try lah. Also got 3 colours”, she proceeds to say
“Ok; I will let you
know when I find something I like”, and yet in my head I am thinking- did she
not hear me say I was just looking a few seconds ago?
“new arrival ah. Can try
miss”
I am now thoroughly
annoyed and my shopping experience has been ruined by this over bearing person
who keeps cornering me into buying something. Had she taken the time to LISTEN
to me or at least ask for my preferences instead of insisting on something I am
clearly not interested in. I am quite patient with people but my boyfriend
cannot tolerate such behavior. He usually just walks out and leaves the
assistants calling out and trying to lure him back lol

| Probably what goes through Yusra's head =XD |
It has been a long and
hectic day in class. Yusra; a dear friend and I decide to have a late lunch at
a particular bistro on campus. Business is slow as it is approaching end of
business hours. We sit down and a very confused looking waitress attends to us
with some menus. Honestly speaking; we know the western food section of that
menu like the backs of our hands and since the first 2 things I had decided on
were nolonger available; I decide to try some noodles.
“Excuse me; exactly
what comes with this dish?” Note, the particulars of the dish are in vernacular
and I would like to know what Im getting before I order.
The waitress stares at
me with a blank expressionless face. I know she is no chef but she could at
least know what her employer serves. She does the hand flip and cartoonish
expression of I don’t Know and says “cannot explain”
After Yusra coaxes me
into ordering something else, I finally make my order. Yusra not being a fan of
Mayo or Thousand Island requests that her salad not to be dressed in either. After
30minutes of waiting for her food; the finally waitress shows up with her food
and guess what – there is Thousand Island dressing on it. Being the no nonsense
person she is; she requests that they prepare another salad for her and remove
the offensive one from her plate
If the waitress had
taken the time to LISTEN; she would have gotten it right in one try
I could go on and on
about incidents when people do not LISTEN to the customer’s needs. Service providers
please take just one minute to LISTEN to what the customer is saying before you
impose your opinion on them. I am paying after all and If I do not like the
service; I will take my business elsewhere - simple
